Meet Howard Chen, MD
Howard Chen, MD, grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude from Duke University. He earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia. Following his residency at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology in New York, NY, he completed a medical retina fellowship at the University of Toronto. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Chen previously practiced at the Phoenix Indian Hospital/ Indian Health Service. He traveled to Native American reservations throughout Arizona to treat underserved populations. Additionally Dr. Chen practiced in a multispecialty group in Peoria and Sun City West before starting his own practice in Goodyear. He won the Paul Keyser Award from the Pan American Academy of Ophthalmology and traveled to Peru to perform cataract and pterygium surgeries. He has also traveled to Ghana, Africa to perform charity cataract surgeries.
Dr. Chen enjoys the hiking and scenery in Arizona and is proud to call Phoenix home. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, watching sports, and exercising.
